Acorn kids doing chores at school!

Research has shown chores for kids are great for fostering independence, promoting a sense of responsibility, and making kids feel like they are part of the household. This month, in order for our students to experience the joy of taking care of our household and learn important life skills, the students washed clothes and dishes. Washing clothes is a great way to improve strength and proprioception as it involves lifting, pulling, and movement against resistance. By using both our hands together to wash dishes, the students' bilateral coordination skills are also developed. In general, doing chores are great ways to promote different developmental skills.
