Ocean Park
Winter is one of the best times to see Ocean Park, because the cooler temperatures can mean fewer crowds, and if you’re prone to strong animal smells, the cooler weather is kinder on your nose!

Snack on Roasted Chestnuts
“Chestnuts roasting on an open fire...” As soon as the temperature drops, you can find chestnut roasters at various street corners across the city, including right around the corner from Mighty Oaks, opposite Kennedy Town MTR Exit B! Roasted in a massive wok full of coal, the chestnuts are served toasty and are a treat that the whole family can enjoy at a bargain. A bag of chestnuts will warm your hands and have you feeling full in this crisp weather in no time!
And for nothing…

Hong Kong Winterfest
Run by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, Hong Kong’s skyline shines with more glamour than usual as buildings get dressed up for the festive occasion. Soak up the romantic ambience under the iconic Statue Square Christmas Tree, and marvel at the wonder of two dazzling multimedia shows — A Symphony of Lights and the Hong Kong Pulse Light Show.

Hiking
Hong Kong’s trails are a delight in winter, though can be crowded, but at least you won’t be fending off the mosquitos and flies! Easy hiking trails for little ones include Chi Ma Wan-Mui Wo (and back), Mui Wo to Silvermine Waterfalls and the Morning Trail around the Peak.

Christmas Carolling
IFC Mall are doing free Christmas carols from December 9-17, 2017 from 2:30pm-3:30pm & 5pm-6pm; December 19-26, 2017 from 5pm-6pm. Carols in Cyberport by the Hong Kong Welsh Male Choir, with Christmas snacks and mulled wine will take place on December 16, 2017 from 3pm-4pm. But to experience the sheer magical joy of Christmas, go for midnight mass at St. John’s Cathedral on Sunday 24th December 2017 at 11.00pm. Free tickets are available from 4th December (Monday) with reservation of tickets made by calling the Cathedral Office at 2523 4157, commencing 4th December 2017 (Monday) – during office hours.

Volunteering
What better way to show true Christmas spirit than by giving back to the community and volunteering over the Christmas holiday? Teach your little one important values such as kindness and goodness by volunteering at Doctor BB, a social enterprise that over the past 4 years has been connecting caring children from 6 months to 6 years old with the elderly, to share love and happiness. They have several events over December and January visiting local old people’s homes with their ‘BB doctors’. Find out more at : http://www.doctorbb.org.hk/

Many of our pre-nursery and K1 children have been celebrating the arrival of their new siblings, which is wonderful - lots of stories have been heard by our teachers of new baby brothers and sisters. With Christmas just around the corner for many families, let our Hong Kong Kindergarten Specialist give you some pointers on how to support firstborn children in order to build long-lasting positive memories and relationships with all the family.
