Nursery Activity: DIY Salad
Friday, January 12, 2018
Meet our nursery kids who became chefs for a day! During snack time, our students cut and mixed their own salads whilst the class discussed the importance of healthy eating.
Teaching children to cook is a powerful learning experience as students learn the origins of food, maths and how to follow a process. After all, learning to cook can be a lot of fun. Making your own salads are a great way to get kids to eat their vegetables as they are more likely to try the food they prepared themselves. The best part? Cooking time is bonding time! When you cook together as a class, the students feel like they are part of something bigger than themselves and feel like they are trusted with an important task. That, in turn, makes them behave more responsibly and have higher self esteem. It is a win win situation! At Mighty Oaks, we believe in learning through fun.
