Science Activity: Exploration with Mirrors
Thursday, September 7, 2017
Research has shown using mirrors with infants and toddlers promote self-awareness, confidence and reading skills. By observing different toys being reflected on the mirrors, our students also begin to understand the concept of reflection and light. An extra benefit is kids love to see their own faces looking back at them while they explore the reflections.
This activity is not only for visual learners, it is also for auditory learners as the mirror produces lovely sounds when toys are placed on them. Kinesthetic learners loved it when they drew with shaving cream as the mirror becomes a part of what they are creating. At Mighty Oaks, we cater to all different styles of learning.
