The European Union conducted a survey with children aged 6-11 years old on “What they want their parents to do to most?" and below are their responses:

1) Parents to not fight in front of them (the most popular)

2) Parents to love each child equally, e.g. If you praise a child, praise all your children or praise the individual child secretly

3) Try not to lie to your child and to apologize if your cannot deliver your promises

4) Parents and children to have an equal relationship. Do not encourage children by giving them monetary rewards. Encourage your child with a reward chart. Not bribery!

5) When your child brings friends home to play, welcome them with open arms regardless of what you think of them. When his/her friends leave, then you are free to guide your child on how to make proper friends.
